Credits
What a credit is, how you buy them, and the five states they move through from your wallet to the agency.
Credits are how money moves on Matchii. You buy them once, and from then on every step, the quote, the hold, the escrow, the release, is counted in them. This page is the whole lifecycle, and the rules that never bend.
What a credit is
A credit is a unit of agency work. Each account carries its own rate in cents per credit, set on the account and reported by your wallet. That rate, not any figure on a marketing page, is what a credit is worth to you. Subscription plans that would change the rate are not live yet; a signed-in wallet buys credits at its own rate today.
Buying credits
From your Credits page, by card, through a hosted checkout. The credits land in your wallet when the payment completes. There is a ceiling on a single top-up, and you can top up as often as you like. Every purchase is a line in your wallet’s ledger.
Matchii’s team can also adjust a wallet by hand, for instance to correct an error. Every such adjustment carries a reason and appears in the same ledger, so nothing moves without a line saying why.
The five states
| State | What happens | Your action |
|---|---|---|
| In wallet | Bought, unspent. | none |
| Held | You chose a tier for a brief; that many credits are held against it. Still yours, not spendable elsewhere. | choose a tier |
| In escrow | You chose an agency; the hold became the engagement’s escrow, split across the milestone plan. | choose an agency |
| Released | You accepted a milestone; its tranche left escrow for the agency. | accept a milestone |
| Refunded | The brief found no agency, or the engagement was cancelled; unspent credits came back to your wallet. | none |
One hold per brief. A brief that is priced but has no tier chosen holds nothing.
The rules
- Nothing leaves without you. Held credits are released only by your acceptance of a milestone. There is no timer, no automatic release, no agency-side action that moves money.
- The price is fixed at the tier. Effort, hours or changes of mind on the agency’s side do not change what you pay. A change to the work is a change request in the plan, not a price change.
- No agency, no charge. If a brief goes through every offer round with no agency accepting, the hold comes back to your wallet automatically and Matchii talks to you about price or scope.
- Cancellation keeps what was earned. Released tranches stay released; unreleased escrow returns to your wallet. See Acceptance and release.
- Credits do not expire while they sit in your wallet.
Where to look
Your wallet shows the balance, the holds against briefs, and every movement as a ledger line. A brief’s page shows the milestone ladder with each tranche pending or released. If a number looks wrong, the ledger is the answer, and hello@matchii.ai is the next step.
